Do It Yourself VacCube Frame

Materials:

To start with you will need to go to your hardware store and get some PVC or  ABS TUBING:

We suggest you work with ABS tubing with a 1.5" inner diameter (~38mm) as our instructions are based on that size. That size of pipe also is much stronger than most other vacbed frames on the market.

For our cubes, we send you all of the corner fittings (they are special 3-way and 4 way elbows that you can't find in stores) so all you need is some lengths of 1.5" diameter tube.

(for the technical minded: Specifically we use ABS 1.5" Inner Diameter schedule 40 plumbing drain pipe)

You will need to get 6 x 6 foot (2 meter) lengths of tubing OR 3 x 12 foot (4 meter) lengths of tubing. Depending on which is available, cost and your transportation. It is usually cheaper to buy the 12 foot lengths, but the 6 foot lengths are easier to carry home.

  • You must use 1.5" inner diameter tubing to fit with the corner pieces we have provided.

It is actually quite easy to make the remaining parts for your vac-cube. You need to cut the lengths of ABS or PVC tubing you have gotten at your hardware store into 12 lengths each of which is 88cm (34.5") long.

These 12 pipes will make up the edges of your cube and will be attached together by the corner fittings that came with your vac-cube when it shipped to you.

Each length of pipe also nees to have some small holes drilled through it to allow air to be sucked out of the cube. Using your drill and a small bit (we suggest a drill bit around 5mm or 3/16" in diameter... if it's close to that you'll be fine, no need to be exact).

Drill holes all the way through the pipes about every 20cm/8".

When you have drilled the holes, make sure that you dump out all the remaining plastic bits cut out by the drill, and you may want to take some sandpaper to the pipe to smooth out any little sharp edges created by drilling.

Congratulations, you have built the tubes for your vac-cube frame. You are now ready to set up and play with your cube!
